Julie Carter, EdD, Co-Founder and CEO

Julie Carter Ed.D, GreyED’s Co-Founder/CEO, has worked in education for over two decades, the first 15 of which were spent in public education. She began her career as a classroom teacher before becoming Executive Director of Technology for the Minnetonka Public Schools. During her tenure there, she supervised one of the nation’s best 1:1 computing efforts, earning recognition from the Apple Distinguished Educator Program and National School Board Association. Dr. Carter was also named as Tech & Learning’s Leader of the Year in 2010 for her innovative use of technology and as one of 20 to Watch by the National School Board Association that same year. She co-founded Grey ED Solutions in 2014 to support districts and educational technology providers on their journeys towards using technology to impact educators and students favorably. Dr. Carter has successfully worked with school districts and educational technology providers around the country on product design and development with a focus on learner impact. She leads the project team for product design and development of newly created applications, overseeing the technical architecture and software development for all products.


Lisa

Lisa deRoy, Chief Learning Officer

Lisa deRoy, Chief Learning Officer, has worked with thousands of educators and PK12 leadership helping to ensure that  technology is meaningful and purposeful for both learners and practitioners alike. Lisa started her teaching career in one of the largest school districts in the country. Lisa eventually left the classroom to pursue graduate studies earning a M.Ed in Education Policy from the University of Virginia.  From there, Lisa has worked in both public school systems and the private sector, always with an emphasis on impacting student outcomes via technology and  best practice implementations. Highlights of her career include consulting with multiple Ministries of Education and State Departments of Education on curriculum projects and large and rapid technology implementations. Lisa has also engaged with dozens of Education Service Agencies across the U.S. in regards to best practice pilots, acting on data and integrating the use of technology into daily practice. As GreyED’s Chief Learning Officer, Lisa leads the pilot process for product development, securing pilots for alpha and beta testing, employing best practices for pilot implementation and evaluation, and scaling use and implementation beyond the pilots and beta product phase.
